Leonard started his musical career in Edmonton at the age of 15 playing with a number of bands including the CHED Marauders, The Tempests, The Strollers & The Shades, and The Sons of Adam, He then moved to California with the Sons of Adam/New Wing and had 3 top 40 songs. He had the privilege of playing in most of the major venues in California, including Gazzarri’s, The Cheetah, The Hulaballoo, The Whiskey A GoGo and the Avalon, opening or playing on the same stage as Jimi Hendrix, Steppenwolf, Janice Joplin, Lewis & Clark, Screaming Lord Sutch and more.
He worked as a session drummer before returning to Edmonton in 1970 and played in a number of local bands which included a western Canada tour with the Pointer Sisters. Leonard moved to Vancouver and retired from music in 1992. Not able to stay away, he started drumming again in 2010, and along with Rusty Creek he also plays with The Zimmermen and Among the Blind.
Leonard was one of the founding members of Rusty Creek. His contributions to our recordings and live performances is immeasurable. Thanks again Leonard.
